The specific responsibilities of the committee, under the LPC's constitution, and finance arrangements, are shown on the Duties page. A copy of the Constitution and the Governance Framework can be downloaded from this site by clicking the relevant document or obtained on request from the LPC office.
In brief, the LPC has the responsibility to represent all pharmacy contractors, whether independent or multiple, within its boundary in all dealings with other healthcare stakeholders to ensure the satisfactory provision of quality community pharmacy services as an integral part of the primary healthcare team and support for the management of change within that team. A document entitled What Your LPC Does For You can be downloaded by clicking here.
To optimise the professional and financial opportunities for community pharmacy practices for the benefit of patients
To deliver upon the opportunities within the new Health White Paper to create new service and funding opportunities for community pharmacy practices utilising the Pharmacy Contractual framework. This requires a change in the way we work and our focus of activity to achieve:
effective participation in locality commissioning groups;
effective representation with other relevant stakeholders;
increased engagement with and support for community pharmacies and community pharmacists;
the necessary deliverables and their consistent quality implementation.
